About this event

Welcome to the registration site for Seattle University's Family Weekend 2021!                          We look forward to having you on campus to share in activities with your student. We know that just being with your student is the most important thing to you! Please note that we will monitor safety protocols related to the pandemic and may need to change programs at the last minute.                                                                                                                                                                                

Please note: Family Weekend registration is open until 10/15 at 6:00 p.m.

Check out our itinerary and details below, and be sure to contact us at parents@seattleu.edu with any questions! The registration deadline is October 15.  Pick and choose the events that work for you and your student. We want the weekend to be a chance for you to re-connect, learn more about campus and the city and have fun!

Please note: Pre-registration is required.  There is no on-site registration.  

NOTE: You MUST pay the General Registration fee (per family, not per person) if you will be attending ANY events in Family Weekend.  

Sunday brunch tickets are per person. Please be sure to include a ticket for your student with your purchase! 

Please note: some programs may be deleted/added or locations changed. We will continue to monitor the pandemic and make programming decisions with health and safety as our priority.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22

2:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Check-in (Student Center Hearth)Pick up your Family Weekend Packet that includes a campus map and other informative handouts. (Pre-registration required.)

3:00 p.m. Garden Tour (departs from Student Center Hearth)Enjoy Seattle U’s incredible grounds. Meet at the Student Center before going on a tour of the campus gardens led by the staff members who so diligently care for them.                         

Dinner on Your Own Our neighborhood is full of great places to dine. Feel free to check out one of the local restaurants suggested in our dining handout. 

7:00 p.m. Redzone Family Fun RedZone wants to welcome you and your family to compete in a friendly cornhole competition for Seattle University swag and merchandise. Join us and show us what you got! Can't wait to see you there.

8:00 p.m. D1 Improv Show Enjoy an evening of comedy with our own Seattle U improv group. Our creative students will make you laugh!

9:30 p.m. The Rocky Horror Picture Show                                                                 This is a cult classic movie from the 70s, accompanied with our own all-student shadow-cast and narrator. We welcome all and encourage you to come dressed in costumes for an out of this world experience! We will have props available for purchase, but feel free to bring your own. ($5 tickets at entry)

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23

9:30 am - 12:00 p.m. Check-in (Campion Lobby)Pick up your Family Weekend Packet that includes a campus map and other informative handouts. (Pre-registration required.)

10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m. Family Weekend Keynote with the President                              Join other students and families for an address by our new President, Eduardo Peñalver, JD., the 22nd president of Seattle University.

11:00 a.m.-11:45 a.m. Family check-in with the VP for Student Development (Family members only) Join Dr. Alvin Sturdivant, Vice President for Student Development, for a conversation about the year ahead and how families can support students in taking part in the full Redhawk Experience.

1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.  The Future of Work: Navigating Through Shifting Career Realities       Join us for an interactive session that covers professional formation at Seattle University, the current state of recruiting and the workplace and how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the landscape. The Career Engagement Office will share how they support students in: preparing for the future of work , anticipating emerging in-demand skills and competencies ,building purposeful and meaningful community to support their career goals and navigating the job market

1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. First-Gen Family Meet & Greet Start your afternoon in The Outreach Center and meet SU’s first-gen faculty & staff that here to support your student’s college experience. First-Generation College Students are students whose parents and/or guardians do not have a U.S. bachelor’s degree.     

2:00 p.m. Where in the World can your Redhawk go? Education Abroad benefits, opportunities, and ways to support your student through it all . There are many opportunities for Redhawks to gain an international educational experience with SU. These experiences are valuable beyond one’s college career. We will provide you with an overview of the process and benefits of studying abroad so you can support your student on this journey.                

4:30 p.m. Learn about our SU Choirs Singing performances have been one of the most challenging things to do in the pandemic. Learn about our choirs and how they continued their work in such a challenging time.

7:00 p.m. Trivia Night Join The Student Events and Activities Council (SEAC) to test your movie trivia knowledge with friends and family during Family Weekend! A prize will be offered to the winning team so let's see whose friends and family are the Trivia Champions!

8:00 p.m. KXSU Student Showcase                                                  Experience some of the great student talent that is on the SU campus! See student musicians, artists, and performers take the stage and the microphone to entertain you, hosted by Seattle University’s Student-Run Radio Station 102.1 FM KXSU!

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 24 

9:30 a.m. — 10:30 a.m. "What is Jesuit Education" Brunch Join us for a closing brunch and panel with a member of our Jesuit community, a Campus Minister and students to learn about what Jesuit Education means at Seattle U. $15 each. Tickets required for all attendees. 

11:00 a.m. Catholic Mass  Families are invited to attend this Sunday Mass with the Seattle University Community. All denominations are welcome.

Family Weekend parking will be free. Details will be included in the confirmation email about a week before the event.

The Campus Store is open on Friday, 10/22 until 4:30 and on Saturday, 10/23 from 10:00 to 2:00. Use the coupon in your packet to stock up on SU swag!

Be sure to use your Eisiminger Fitness Center pass to work out for free!
